For the third year in a row my son Charlie and I were invited to go on a fishing trip to the remote lakes around Bancroft Ontario by a friend of ours named Dave who has a hunting camp there. The lakes we go to are only accessible by ATV which ensures the fishing is always excellent however the down side of the trip, being so far back in the woods, is the “bug factor”. This time of year the deer flies and mosquitoes are terrible but we know that is when the fish bite the best so we go anyway!
Dave and I have always used liquid Muskol and to be completely honest this trip would be unbearable without it. Muskol works great for us, we wouldn’t go into the woods fishing or spring turkey hunting without it. Charlie, on the other hand, has been using another product designed for children up to this point in his fishing career and usually returns home for Mom’s inspection with lots of bites while Dave and I get away relatively unscathed. I have gotten into trouble on past trips here for neglecting Charlie’s “bug factor” because my wife and I usually hand the kids over to Grandma and Grandpa for a visit with them the week after we get back from this trip. Grandma doesn’t quite understand how we could enjoy ourselves under the circumstances and thinks the bug bites on Charlie are some type of cruel and unusual punishment.
This year Charlie was old enough to use the Muskol and the return home inspection was much better. With him sporting only a few bites we passed with flying colors! Seems that based on his new secret weapon we will be allowed to go again next year if we are lucky enough to get invited.

Thanks to Muskol for helping a kid get hooked on fishing and for me being able to take my best fishing buddy along with me and Dave on trips like this. Attached are a few pictures of Charlie and Dave from our trip this year. These memories will last all three of us forever.
