These memories are strong when i think back about the days of when my grandparents salmon fished for a living in the summer. My brother and I would go with them to their summer home on the river, and I can still smell the "fly dope" our grandparents would cover us in! Seriously we looked like be bathed in the stuff, but it's what we had too do to enjoy going outside to the nets, to play , to go in the sandy cove and to go for a stroll in the woods. We were surrounded but the woods so you have to be careful the mosquitoes and blackflies didn't carry you away. I really miss checking the salmon nets, I became selfish when i was a teenager and hating having to go there in the summer. But what i wouldn't give to be out the the good old speedboat beating against the waves ,squealing with delight as the water splashed in my face as I sat in the nose of the boat. As we checked the nets I would get exited to see plenty of fish cause I knew it made my grandparents happy. Nothing like a small boat full of huge salmon some almost big as me, well they probably were bigger than me when I first started going there! I have learned not to be selfish as I got older, and learned to take it all in when I travel or even go outdoors anywhere with my own family now! I hope I can make such wonderful memories for my children as I did growing up! Some of my memories are over 20 years old, and I may still be young but these will be forever ingrained in my mind!!
