Some old friends, myself and my husband have this special place. No matter where any of us are and what happens in our lives every one of us knows where it is and how at home and comfortable it feels. Our special place is way out of the way, it is not used by very many people for camping because it is so rugged. It has a single lane dirt road that is mogul-ish to say the least. If you are not careful the road will eat your car. It is the most stressful drive in and out of somewhere that I have ever experienced, but once we'd arrive at our site every single thought but the bugs would leave our minds. Complete relaxation would fall over the entire group. The mosquitoes, black flies and deer flies were so thick the only thing that woud keep the bugs from eating us alive was Muskol. We tried everything else..It just wouldn't work. The Swift was our summer home away from home for many years. There was about 20 of us that gathered almost every weekend. The one guy you could always count on being there was very close with my husband and myself and a few others in the group. If there was a plan for The Swift, he was always the one to gear everyone else up for the weekend. He would drive from house to house, and sometimes even if people didn't want to come, just the sight of his truck in thier drive ways would change their minds. We never wanted to miss his attempt at going up "Jeep Rock" with his truck.
My very special friend that loved our very special place so much passed away in March of '07. The summer after our friend passed though being hard to do without him, we all got together for one last Swift trip. We gathered everyone we could and had a great weekend of rememberance. We even branded "Jeep Rock" the rock wall. We spray painted his name and dates across it. We all knew he was there to enjoy that day. The Rainbow in the picture says it all...
Now every time I use my Muskol, the smell of it reminds me of our special place and our special friend.
