Leslie Dutton

In 2001, 6 of us that love whitewater headed to the Nahanni. It was late June to take advantage of high water in the white water stretch below the Moose Ponds. Being June, the bugs were quite bad! Muskol was my best friend. But nowhere were they as bad as among the mud flats (the "splits") at the end of the trip. When we were finally forced to get out for a personal break ... the bugs were SO THICK it was hard to breath, and before dropping my drawers I put some extra Muskol where one doesn't usually put it!!! Everyone was so panicked to leave that my husband jumped in the canoe and started paddling away without realizing I wasn't in it yet! By the way ... that was the trip where he proposed to me by the light of the midnight sun at brink of Virginia Falls -- and I said "yes." P.S. the pictures where taken on the Grand Canyon.
